The band includes Devre Jackson on vocals, Chuck Fluker on guitar, Dean Demerritt on bass, Nick Mancini on vibraphone, and Matt Edwards on drums. About Devre Jackson: Known around town as the singing bartender. Devre moved to Tulsa from Oakland, California. Also known as Mr. D', he spent the 80's to early 90's in Los Angeles managing record stores and later as a marketing rep for record labels like Arista, RCA and others. All along as guest vocalist with LA's Tenor sax-man Chuck Johnson and his band. Devre moved to the San Francisco Bay area where he began his journey learning about fine wines and food pairings. His travels landed him in Tulsa as a sales rep for a wine distributor. He's been sharing wine and singing ever since. About Chuck Fluker: Born and raised in New York is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He began performing in the Tulsa area about 2004. He’s been the guitarist for the Neo Swing group called The Zuits for over a decade and as a band leader for his own Neo Soul / Acid Jazz group “Salty Grits”. He can also be seen around town playing guitar and singing alongside jazz guy Devre Jackson. Along side his contributions to Tulsa's jazz scene, Chuck is a master level Medical Massage therapist with over twenty years experience in the healthcare industry. He's Owner of Urban Renewal, Specializing in CranioSacral Therapy, Medical Massage. Matthew L. Edwards Drummer / Percussionist, College Film Instructor, IT and Digital Media Support Specialist. In addition to teaching Tulsa Community College, he plays around town with Tulsa treasures like; The Red Dirt Rangers, Travis Fite, Jared Tyler, Booker Gillespie, Tavis Minner and others. Matt has played drums since he was in the 6th grade. He has toured the nation, and settled down in Tulsa and was a founding member of the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey and still plays shows with longtime friend, Brian Roy Haas in Tulsa and in Santa Fe, NM. Over the years he has toured and played with; Tito Puente, Medeski, Martin and Wood, Members of The New Power Generation band (Prince), Reed Mathis, DJ Logic, and others. Dean DeMerritt A Tulsa native although he has lived and performed in Dallas and Atlanta. He was in the Grammy award winning group "Asleep at the Wheel" and has also been a member of the Tulsa Philharmonic and the Ft Worth Symphony. Dean has two recent LP's, "Red Dirt Improvisations", and "Compared to Now". Currently, he is a string bass instructor at the University of Tulsa and Northeastern State Univ in Tahlequah. He is a regular performer on stages throughout Tulsa and surrounding states. Nick Mancini Vibraphonist/ Marimba and composer Nick Mancini began his professional career as a drummer at the age of 15. By the age of 23 he was a favorite choice drummer in upstate New York. He went on to do live gigs all around New York City as a band leader until a gig took him out to the West Coast when he found his new home. In 2011 he was invited to join the Jazz percussion facility at the Bob Cole conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach. As a jazz faculty member and CSU Northridge, he serves a recurring facility post for the Thelonious Monk Institute. Nick performed and recorded with such diverse luminaries as Arturo Sandoval, Peter Erskine, Poncho Sanchez, Jennifer Holliday, Kamasi Washington among others. He has arranged and overseen the production of multiple vocal and instrumental Jazz records and boasts an ever-growing catalog of independently released recordings under his own name.
