She is the frontwoman for the eight-piece jazz combo, Annie Ellicott and The Lucky 7, and recently dropped an album of upbeat jazz standards, “Happy Talk,” with pianist Scott Mcquade — available on all streaming platforms. Annie has been a reoccurring guest singer with Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, appearing with the ensemble 20 times over the last eight years across the US and Europe, performing jazz, bebop, and comedy improv. Goldblum says of Ellicott, “I always know it’s going to be fun when Annie is on the gig. She’s a wonderful jazz singer who is adventurous and surprising.” The Guardian sums the chanteuse up succinctly, “Annie Ellicott blends coquettishness with cool.” Annie is also the lead singer and songwriter for Rubyland, a cross-genre band based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. ABOUT RUBYLAND Rubyland is a cross-genre band made up of seven songwriters in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who combine elements of jazz, pop, rock, and folk to create a full-bodied and emotionally driven sound. Their live performances are often theatrical and visually colorful with whimsical costumes and set pieces bespoke to the theme of the evening. Veteran Jazz singer and lead songwriter Annie Ellicott fronts the band with dynamically soulful vocals ranging from whisper-soft to thunderous, and an unorthodox approach to the electric ukulele. David Broome (piano), Mark Southerland (saxophone), Peter Tomshany (guitar), Jordan Hehl (bass), and Nicholas Foster (drums) round out the group with a masterful command of their instruments and excellent original songs, making for a beautifully rich and charmingly eclectic ensemble.
